Josh Powell – Timeline to tragedy

Josh Powell kills himself and his two young sons by setting his home on fire Sunday.

On Sunday February 5th Josh Powell died with his two sons in a blaze that destroyed his home and the lives of his two sons, Charles and Braden. The blaze he set himself, one can only assume it was a murder suicide but its worth a look back at what happened in the last two years that led to this tragic end.

Dec. 7, 2009: Josh Powell fails to drop his children at a day care in Utah. Susan, his wife, failed to show up for work that same day. When concerned family members start to look for her, police question Josh Powell. He tells investigators that he took his sons camping while his wife was at home. Temperatures that night were freezing cold which caused many to doubt Josh’s story.

Dec. 10, 2009: Police search the campsite where Josh said he and the boys were the night Susan disappeared. They fail to find any signs that anyone was there.

Dec. 16, 2009: After a few interviews with Josh, Police name him a person of interest in the case.

Josh Powell’s final voice mail – “I am not able to go on.”

Powell died Sunday in a blaze that also killed his two sons.

One of Josh Powell’s final acts before he killed himself and his two sons by setting his house on fire was to leave a voicemail for family members saying he couldn’t live without the boys and didn’t want to go on anymore.

ABC News obtained a voicemail Powell left for his family members. The recording was played Tuesday on “Good Morning America”.
