Arizona executes sixth inmate of 2012

Stokely was executed this morning in Arizona.

Richard Dale Stokley, 60-years-old was executed this morning at the state prison complex in Florence, Arizona.

Stokley was convicted of murdering Mandy Meyers and Mary Snyder, both 13-years-old in 1991. Stokley’s accomplice, Randy Brazeal, negotiated a plea and was released from prison after 20 years.

Arizona is only behind Texas and Oklahoma in number of executions performed in 2012.

Stokley’s last words were, “I do wish I could die doing something meaningful. You know, this seems such a waste.”

Richard Stokley was pronounced dead at 12:12 pm EST.

Oklahoma executes killer for 1993 double murder

Ochoa’s final words were “I’m innocent”.

George Ochoa was executed this evening in Oklahoma for the slayings of Oklahoma City couple Francisco Morales, 38-years-old and Maria Yanez, 35-years old during a home invasion.

Ochoa has maintained his innocence and when asked if he had any last words he simply said, “I’m innocent”. Approximately one minute later, the drugs began to flow and his breathing ceased.

According to an investigation, Ochoa had shot Morales 12 times and Yanez 11 times in their bedroom. The children of the couple were inside the house at the time of the murders and were present at Ochoa’s trial and testified against him.

Ochoa’s attorney’s claimed that Ochoa was not mentally competent to be executed although the claims were rejected by a federal judge and an appeals court in Denver, Colorado.

Ochoa was pronounced dead at 7:07 pm EST.

“I’m good. Let’s roll.” Ohio executes inmate for brutal murder

Brett Hartmann was executed this morning for the 1997 murder of Winda Snipes, a friend in Akron, Ohio. Even though Hartmann has consistently insisted he was innocent, prosecutor Sherri Bevan Walsh reminded everyone that “the evidence was overwhelming that he brutally stabbed and mutilated Winda Snipes.”

When asked if he had any final words Hartmann said, “I’m good. Let’s roll.” He then smiled and gave a thumbs up to his sister who was watching from the witness room.

Hartmann was declared dead at 10:34 am.

“Serial killer in training” executed in Texas

Mario Swain, 33-years-old, was executed in Texas last night for the murder of Lola Nixon in Longview, Texas in 2002.

During his trial, the prosecutor, Lance Larison, referred to Swain as a “serial killer in training” because of the detailed records he would keep about women he would follow. After murdering Nixon, Swain put her body in the trunk of her car and drove her to a remote area near Dallas and threw her body in the back of an abandoned car.

After Swain was strapped to the gurney, the warden asked if he would like to make a final statement, he simply shook his head and closed his eyes. 30 minutes later Swain was pronounced dead at 7:39pm EST.
